Hello Fall 2004! Been a while... The family, daughter in college, and my real job have kept me away from the project. Thanks for all the emails. It is really humbling to know that their are hundreds, if not thousands of fellow hot rodders following my adventure. You guys are awesome. Now due to the car being in its new garage, 50 minutes away from my home, I will only be able to do the big stuff on the weekends. I will be doing some of the smaller stuff here at my home. But most of the stuff will be on the weekends. I worked a deal to have Brian "No Shoes" Moore tune the TEC3 on the Toystar. No Shoes is one of the best tuners on the east coast. His work is often shown in all of the big magazines. Brian is a legend with the TEC3. |
Pulled the car out to empty the water from the engine. Don't worry. It is pure water. No additives. |
My helper was with me today. He loves getting dirty. Well greasy and oily. Though I don't want him getting cancer, I keep him away from the "real" oil.
Man, all that work, and I have to pull it out again. Actually it is good since there is a lot I have learned since I have put the engine in. Also now I have a real welder. So I will be redoing all of the welds I made. |
Ian and I removed the exhaust system. |
And here it is. |
We now have the use of these sweet dollies. It is so nice to be able to move the car around. |
Once we got it positioned properly, I put the rear up in the air. Then the rear suspension came off. |
This side was easy as well. |
The engine hoist positioned. Miller beer waiting for the damn picture to be taken. |
Hooked up the engine. By this time Ian was bored. So he went with his momma. |
Man, sweet 250v stick welder. I need some practice, but it is like riding a bike. |
Here is the axles and the old RX7 brakes. Pepsi placement for future sponsorship? |
Pile of expensive parts. |
The tool from heaven. This allowed me to remove the front engine frame bolts in a matter of minutes. Doing it by hand takes at least 1/2 an hour. |
Engine down. |
Man that is big. |
I have to lift the car up a bit more. |
Out in the open. |
4.6 liters of wonderful aluminum technology. Tomorrow the heads come off. |
