V8 MR2 Fuel Rail Design notes

http://www.wolfkatz.com/

Wolfkats Engineering will be designing and making a new fuel rail for the Northstar. I have searched the web far and wide and have found nothing. Even talked the CHRF and they just use the stock nylon system. Great. They just recalled the nylon systems because they are leaking and causing thermo~nuclear explosions in Cadillacs and Pontiacs. GM wont replace mine under the recall because the sheetmetal is not GM. Damn them! But Wolfkats to the rescue!

I am shipping him my Northstar intake manifold. injectors and the stock nylon fuel rail.

The idea is to design the rails so that they will fit mutiple Northstar configurations. This will make the sytem marketable to other cars, like the Fiero and the many hot rods that are using the Northstar.

So the new rails will use a Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator, have a Summit fuel pressure gauge mounted the FPR, and use AN fittings with stainless hose.

The feed will enter the front bank near the firewall. and the return will be off the FPR on the rear bank. The gauge will be mounted on the FPR.

-----------------------

Yesterday I took the new Cadillac front hubs and tore them down. They are in really good shape. These will replace the caddy hubs I used on the rear with the RX7 brake hardware. I am using the 11.25" cadillac front brakes on the rear. I am going to send the caddy brake pads to Porterfield and have them make some pads for me since they do not list any for the Caddy. I am thinking on having them reduce the pad size 1/3rd to decrease the swept area. This will bring it more inline with the swept area of the front MK2 brakes.
I had to stop work yesterday as what was left with Hurricane Ivan was blowing tree limbs all over me and it knocked the hood onto my head. that sucked.

----------------------

I have been getting emails from folks asking why I have not been updating the pages. Well guys I have been really busy with all sorts of other stuff. This is really my busy time of the year at my real job. So I don't have much time to play. But reast assured I will be back at it next month.

A few of the studs were mis-threaded, or just broke on the new hubs. So these will all be replaced by new studs.

Stripped. I just need to grind the strut mount down to fit the AW11 struts. I removed the studs. But I will be keeping the backing plate on this time.

Custom-designed fuel flow from Aeromotive. Red/Clear anodized finish, adjustable 30 to 70 psi pressure, -6AN inlet and outlet ports, fuel injection, pressure regulator. This Aeromotive A1000-6 injected bypass regulator was developed for high horsepower EFI applications. It delivers performance, long-life, and reliable operation.
