Day 75 - 7/29/2004

Home

We have been really busy. I have taken a break from the Toystar to get the RS-GT (Purple MR2) ready for the Kingston 2004 MR2 event. This meet was last week and we had an awesome time. I really wish we could have had the car ready by then, but like I stated on the MR2OC Message Board the goal of this car was to do it right and take no short cuts. I have had to catch myself a few times and redo stuff because of that.

www.horsepowerfreaks.com have supplied us with some bad ass seats. I am having problems fitting in the stock seat, my head hits the roll cage. Not good. So lower seats will be needed.

I also sorted out the shifting via steering wheel. www.OGRacing.com sells a momentary on switch made by Sparco. I ordered these and received them the next day. $51 included shipping!

I have also got a wing on it's way from Hong Kong. This is not one of those cheap ricer wings you see on all of the Civics and Probes. This is a real 1998 MR2 center section. It will be seatup somewhat like David Vespremi (yes that is Brian "No Shoes" Moore) has his setup on his MK2 MR2. The only difference being that we wont use the bottom section. Just the side skirts. Those will be attached to the one piece rear deck lid.

I was also mentioned again in Sport Compact Car. September 2oo4

As you know we think we have some problems with the engine. I freaked out when I saw 245 degrees on the gauge. Well I later found out that this is normal. So I will need a 300 degree gauge now.

The Head gaskets and bolts came in the mail from www.rockauto.com. I am also told that water could be leaking into the cylinders via the intake manifold. I am going to order a new intake manifold gasket as I reused the old one, which is not recommended.

I have also reengineered the cooling system. The surge tank is now back in the system between engine and the overflow. The 13 pound cap has been removed and the standard Northstar 15 pounder has been put back in. I am also looking at the Craig-Davis water pump. More on that later
