Day 70 - 7/03/2004

Home

Good day, kinda muggy. Did a lot of wiring today. July 4th was spent in the house as rain and lightning was hammering Charlottesville. It did clear up a bit around 5pm, gave me time to head down to the junk yard, I found the connectors I needed for the DFUs (coils) and also founf a 1988 Fiero. I want the rear suspension off that car. I'll go look at it again tomorrow.

I did get the transaxle completed and programmed. The installation of the Transmission Control Computer was the absolute easiest thing so far! Simple upload of the .bin files and click click... just have to get the other stuff done.

1

I had some help from my 3 daughters and son. I put the two oldest on pin stripe removal and the two young ones on sanding the hood detail.

2

2

The boy wonder was a bit too good at sanding. He actually got down to the metal in one spot.

3

Got the fuel filter installed. This will be hard mounted to the chassis.

4

4

Fuel line is clamped

5

5

I do have enough room to swap the spark plugs. No need to drop the engine.

6

6

Test fitted the exhaust system.

7

7

Damn that looks cool.

8

Anne, the skater punk chick stripping pin stripes. Last year she was helping me pull the engine on the race car. This year she is less likely to get her finger nails dirty. Girls change pretty quick. She gets her permit soon.

9

I installed an emergency cut off switch. Installed the fancy K&N filter. I need to trip the bell crank on the throttle so that it clears the filter.

10

I got tired of hitting my head on my 2x4 prop rod. So I installed 2 prop rods from Twos-R-Us.

2

11

Here is the other one. They do a good job at holding up the one piece hood.

1

12

I found an oil pressure sender adaptor in my basement of spares.

2

13

Wiring. Fun... but such a mess until you get it all wrapped up.

1

14

I made a cap for the EGR feed on the exhaust. I took the cap that came on it, welded a 1/8" steel plate on top, and then ground it down.
