Took a trip to Richmond, Virginia today to deliver 2000 Hot Wheels that the MR2 Owners Club Message Board donated for the Toys For Tots program. Our first attempt. I had no clue we were going to collect so many. Next year we will do better! |
2
Here they are stacked up at the Richmond Marine Reserve warehouse. I was told they were in dire need of stocking stuffers. These cars are going to really help! |
3
Got home and started work on the Toystar. This water fitting will need to be altered. I am going to make one from aluminum, it will have a 90 degree downturn. |
4
This is the top outlet to the pump. |
5
The engine does not stick into the passenger compartment all that much. People have sent me emails asking how far. I am 5' 11" tall, and will have no problem sitting in the car. Once I get the final position of the engine done, I'll put a seat in and take some measurements for you guys. I will also need to get a longer shifter cable. Been looking a the B&M and Hurst Automatic shifters. |
6
That shifter cable needs to be about 7 or 8 inches longer. |
7
Nice filler. For reference this is directly under the battery tray if I had one. Looking from the drivers seat.
Those two bolts look like they want to be engine mount bolts. Of course they will be updated to Grade 8. |
8
Stripped of the flat top cover. You can see the plastic intake manifold and the fuel hoses with injectors. |
9
Passenger side view of the manifold. That bracket held on the power steering pump, which I removed today. |
10
Awesome looking package |
11
I can go back about another inch or two with the engine. |
12
I need to take this off. Anyone know how? |
13
Lots of room here. |
14
Without the power steering pump the engine is now shorter. |
15
This will be such a waste to cover with steel and carpet. Wouldn't it be cool with a see though cover? |
16
Tomorrow I'll cut this out to be used for a drivers side intake for the air filter. Yes I know the side vents are not functional while the car is moving, but I need room for the MongoFilter I am using. And the vent will allow that. |
17
The windshield on the red car was perfect, until Hurricane Isabel tore a branch from a tree and put a small crack in it. This windshield is perfect. |
18
So this will replace the bent up fender. |
19
And this may replace the slightly bent passenger side fender. |
20
A factory manual door. |
21
I need to replace the door hinges. The doors are sagging, and the hinges are worn. Luckily I have some very good low milege hinges. |
22
I will be putting the vent right there. |
23
This is bent, but no rust. This should be an easy fix. And I have two very good condition mud flaps. Now I just gotta find some good old school curb feelers! |
24
Stock vent hole |
25
Stock gas filler hole soon to be vent hole. |
26
Man I like this hood. |
27
No tools needed I was trying to get a good image of how far the engine intrudes. Had to do, I need to find my polorizing filter. |
28
I'll get more room when the engine moves back. |
29
Should I put a slight rake in the body? V8... jack up the rear baby! |
30
She is bent. I'll try and replace this tomorrow. |
31
Sad face, Gotta put a smile back on her. |
32
The rear suspension. I am still waiting for my coilovers. Hopefully Monday or Tuesday. |
33
from left to right - stock 4age MR2 CV, left V8 GM CV, right V8 GM CV. |
34
Those ends need to be machined down to the 4AGE CV size. They also need to be made a bit shorter. Carl Crawford explained to me how this is done. Should only cost under $100 or so. |
35
Nylon BushingThe red car had its brake system removed. So here is an 87 master cylinder and proportioning valve. |
36
Some spare 1989 J-Spec SC doors. Ligher than american doors by 10 pounds each. I may use these since I will have a roll cage installed. |
37
I will use this hood. I just have to finish the vent. |
