Day 59 - 5/30/2004

Home

Wow, been awhile. I have been really busy with real life stuff. I went out to visit my father in Northern California. Had a blast. All we did was work on boats. Got to do some farming as well. Met up with the local MR2 crowd and had an awesome meet! Now it is time to get back to some serious MR2 stuff.

Paul Woods has finally got the front spoiler from a Vauxhall Carlton for me. It will be on it's way soon. I love the look.

I have decided that the car is going to be painted the same color as Rustoleum Safety Red. It is an orangy red. I love that color! The engine bay sprayed with Rustoleum, but the body will be sprayed by proper automotive paint of the same color.

1

Here I am after getting those 5 cows into the pen.

2

2

My father let me play with the Millermatic 175. Awesome machine. It is amazing how much better I can weld when I have the proper tools. Now I just have to save up $1800.

3

We stuffed the 283 back into the Chris~Craft. I love that boat. This used to be mine. But we sold it about 3 months ago. The guy wanted the engine rebuilt, so that is what we were doing.

4

4

One day all of this will be mine. Still trying to figure out how to get the shop out to Virinia!

5

5

My vacation in the Sierra's was just too short!

6

6

I returned home to find my new Momo Steering wheel from Option Imports .

7

7

Man that is going to look awesome in the car!

8

I pulled the Northstar out, and finished off grinding all the non-used mounts, and the crap I welded in a long time ago.

1

9

I cut the rear frame rail out. Now I can make the rear sub-frame bolt to the AW11 suspension mount.

2

10

I used Rustoleum Safety Red. I love the look of this color. Of course I used the Wagner Power Painter to apply the paint. I made certain to apply the required RSe drips and runs.

11

It was about a day of grinding and cutting to get that engine bay cleaned up.

4

12

I am still debating whether to use .090 aluminum sheet or 22 gauge steel for the firewall. They both weigh about the same. I may just use aluminum for now since I have a ton of it.

5

13

I want to be able to remove this area. I want to make it so I can pop it off, roll the engine out, and bolt it back on. I have not figured out how to do that yet. I need to go look at some custom cars

6

14

Drilled a hole through the ball, then used safety wire and a washer to hold it all together.

7

15

Under the cover is the monster motor.

16

Both sides are done now.

1

17

All shiny!

2

18

This is what I cut out. Lots of scrap metal. Lots of weight.
