Got a few hours of work done tonight. I ran out of batteries for the camera, so I was only able to get 3 images. I had to go to NAPA and get a special gear puller and installer for the water pump cam gear. Sweet tool. I tried a regular 2 arm gear puller and that did not work. Thanks to the very knowledgeable sales guy, he knew exactly what I needed. Autozone and Advance Autos needs guys like this! Not just computer looker-uppers. These guys at NAPA in Charlottesville know their cars! I pulled the exhaust system out and started welding it. Got about 80% done before calling it quits. I also finished cutting out the firewall between the trunk and the engine bay. The High & Tight Motorsports upper strut bar is holding the car together. Just kidding. The AW11 does pretty well without that wall in there. I have some good experience with this as my Krylon Special MR2 handled pretty well without it. I finally got my pipe bender. So now I can start bending some tube for the rear chassis frame. I discovered that I can't remove the front cam cover. The chassis is in the way. The cam cover does not just lift off. You have to twist and turn it to get it around the cam drive for the water pump. So this has to come off when I drop the engine to paint the engine bay. Hopefully this week I can get that done. With the firewall now gone it will be much easier by myself. Again, sorry for the lack of images, the batteries are on the charger and will be ready for the rest of the week. |

2 I had never seen one of these pullers / installers before. |

3 Pretty funny. Tree Frog Racing donated the chassis. How fitting. |
