Day 52 - 5/01/2004

Home

The started out nice with the temps in the 70s. Very nice, until the rain came late afternoon. But I did have time to clean up the intake manifold and swap the intake side to the front of the engine.

1

1

The backside of the throttlebody. Pretty bad shape.

2

2

A goo 1/64" worth of gunk

3

look ma, I bet this was not working well

4

4

Gummed up spacer

5

5

This solenoid weighs in at about 5 pounds. It has huge mass for its size!

6

6

EGR soleoid, all gummed up.

7

7

A quick clean up before soaking in the can of carb cleaner

8

EGR feed on the Throttlebody spacer. This was almost completely carboned up. I cleaned it with a screw driver

This is all coming out and will be moved to the other side.

15

A filter screen with gunk in it.

16

It fell apart when I pulled the clip off.

Looking down at the intake valves

2

24

another shot

25

The starter and starter solenoid. Mounted under the intake manifold. Cool place to put it, away from the heat of the headers and splash from the tires.

4

26

That log across the top is a water log that feeds both heads

5

27

I wonder how much horsepower this baby made

6

28

I rerouted the starter solenoid wire, and pushed the retainer clip under the starter bolt.

7

29

The fuel injector harness

30

The fuel injection rail with injectors installed.

31

Looking inside the intake manifold.

1

32

haha.. I like that

2

33

This area will be boxed in and fed through an air scoop built into the widebody flares.

34

More cutting was needed to feed air to the air cleaner and the engine bay. Aimee came outside as I was cutting the hole and asked me why everytime she comes outside I have the Sawz-All in hand and am cutting up the car. I had no answer.

4

35

Polished up the Rochester throttlebody and spacer plate.

5

36

There is a flapper door at the end of the intake manifold. It would be cool to know why this sprung flapper is there. If the door opens the air bypasses the filter. Now I may not be all that smart, but I do know that the air MUST go through the filter if you want your engine to live long. Anyone know about why this flapper is there?

6

37

The throttle assembly hits the air filter and wont open fully. I'll have to fix that, though it would be kinda cool to kick the Boostmuchers ass without having to use full throttle!

7

38

That intake manifold looks so good without the harness installed!

39

I can use the EGR feed as a nitrous port? Just kidding... ya... maybe not though...

40

I love this shot
