1

1

Pulled the Purple MR2 out from the Red Neck garage and rolled the Red MR2 down to a position to were Roy and I could work.

2

2

Here is Roy modeling the latest in cover-all designs.

3

Nice power antenna. Roy removing the rear trunk.

4

4

Here is the engine bay before we starting stripping it. The battery box needs to be removed along with the tranny mount.

5

5

Roy removing hoses and pipes and crap in the engine bay

6

6

Popped up in the air

7

7

The insulation removed.

8

Piles of 1987 intake hose.

9

Some stuff piled on the Krylon Special.

10

More stuff piled on the roof. For such a little car there is a lot of crap in it.

11

Here I am cutting out the transmission mount and the battery tray.

12

Me sporting the great Club MR2 cap. This cap has saved my head while cutting, grinding and welding. Plus chick really dig a guy in a Club MR2 cap! www.clubmr2.com

13

You can only get so far with a sawz-all, time to break out the angle grinder. God I love power tools.

14

One large 90 degree V8 almost ready to go under the MR2.

15

We pulled off some of the harness from the v8. We did not want to screw up the harness when installing the V8.

16

Me bending over searching for something. Of course my tool box is not as organized as Roys. Okay, it is not even near looking like Roys surgical kit. I need to get organized.

17

Power tools rule. Big hole in the firewall so the engine will fit. A cover will be built to allow quick access to the oil filler and the dipstick.

18

Hole'sum fun

19

Gas tank filler removed. A 16 gallon fuel cell will be moved up to the front trunk. A vent will be mounted here to provide an area for the air filter to fit here.

20

Here I am removing the exhaust manifold. What a bitch and a half. Of course GM puts it on before the transaxle is installed. I have to make a hole in the trunk to put the B-pipe down through.

21

Right before we lowered the car. We found out that we needed to remove the alternator, the AC compressor and some other small un-needed stuff. I am going to look at another GM alternator or maybe even use the Toyota MR2 alternator. The Caddy alternator is so powerfull that it even supplied 3 phace AC current.

22

Look Ma, it fits! All I could do was laugh and run around like a little girl. It looks so ******* cool!!!

23

Woo-Hoo!

24

It sits seven inches into the interior.

25

It is actually mounted about 2 inches too high right now. I can move it lower. I need to get the centerline to the axles sorted before I make the engine mounts

26

Loads of room here

27

also over here. I thought there was not going to be as much room here.

1

28

I can even move it back a bit if I need to.

2

29

It looks really far forward. It is just the camera angle.

30

I am shopping for wheelie-bars now

4

31

I need to remove a little more firefall from this area. You can see the upper torque mount. This will be attached to the roll bar.

5

32

I need to find or make a 90 degree bend here.

6

33

Just a little trimming is needed here.

7

34

Now the hard part, making an axle that will work with the AW11 hub.

35

I can lower the engine about 2 more inches.

36

I need to remove the power steering pump.

37

The harness will be routed into the rear trunk.

38

Nightfall and time to go in. What a sight!
