Day 45 - 4/10/2004

Home

It was a cool day today. Nice working weather. I jacked the car up and removed the fuel tank. I needed to swap out the fuel level sender. I have a Autometer gauge, so a new sender was needed.

Got a few other things done as well.

1

1

Here is the fuel tank removed. I already installed the bigger fuel pump. The hole is where the sender goes.

2

2

On the top is the new sender. The bottom one is the AW11 Toyota sender.

3

To get to this point was an absolute pain in the ass. Of course the US made sender is not the same as the Toyota. The bolt pattern was off by 2 mm. I modified the sender. Then redrilled and tapped the holes to use the brass bolts that were supplied.

4

4

The fuel pump sits under here.

5

5

These are the pipes that feed the engine. The large pipe with the rag is the filler and the one above is the drain back. The two on the far side are the presure and return side. The other two smaller that go into the end of the tank are vapor and vents.

6

6

Yee-Haw! Another part that bolts up! The stock AW11 throttle cable hooked right up.

1

7

Un-needed vacuum port. I need to get some OEM rubber caps.

2

8

PCV vent. No valve on this side. This actually plugged into the air feed in front of the throttlebody. I will combine this with the left bank into a atmosphere breather. I am probably going to get this fro CHRF - IMAGE

9

Here is the left bank. This actually has a normal PCV valve.

4

10

I still need to remove the power steering bracket

1

11

I removed all of the un-needed vacuum lines. I will need to get some OEM caps like the center one.

2

12

I welded up a thermostat adaptor with a 90 degree downturn. As you can see I have also moved the wiring harness from the rear trunk to the interior. I feel safer having the electronic on the inside of the car.

13

Reference shot. Thermostat housing on water pump.

4

14

I need to make brackets for the pressure and overflow tanks. This is where they will go in the rear trunk.
