Day 28 - 2/13/2004

Home

The weather, my real job and my other MR2 have taken it's toll on my work time. I am a web master for the Univerity of Virginia Bookstore. This is my busy time of year as we build our websites for the "Back To School" season in the fall. So over the next month or two I will be having to share my time with my real job, the one that pays the bills and keeps the wife happy. Luckily I have had a head start on the design aspects, now I just have to fill the websites with products.

I have been busy collecting parts for the Toystar. Thank god for NASCAR race car shops. They have the coolest parts for not a lot of money.

Last weekend found me replacing the gear box in my Purple MK1 MR2. I lost 3rd and 5th gear due to loss of oil. I just happened to have a spare box and swapped it out.

I got the rear rod ends for the toe control rods. Once I figure out where I want to locate the mounts on the frame I'll order the center section.

2

2

This will be the hub side heim joint.

3

This is the chassis side of the toe control rod. It is filled with urethane. This will help to cushion the heim, less chance of breaking when I run over small game and pot holes.

4

These are some sweet rubber seals, gotta seal out that Virginia road grime.

5

I paid $9.95 for this Mazda Miata coil over kit on e-Bay. Damn good deal.

2

6

Some rubber bits

7

These tops are much nicer than those Corolla coil overs I got.

9

Combined with my Tein camber plates this is going to be one nice setup.

6

10

Jeremy Horton sent me some 1991 Toyota MR2 hubs. Sweet!

7

11

Fuse boxFor some reason they have an extra lug.

12

I have some MK2 lower control arms. They will work perfect with this setup. I'll be able to get some sweet camber settings. The tires should tuck nicely into the wheel wells. Plus it will look much better having a full set of 5 lug wheels on the car.

13

Look in there. That is the ABS bit. A sensor will fit in there and connect to the Transaxle computer and will allow me to use the traction control.

14

Troy has some nice Wilwood calipers on his MK2 USCC MR2. We will use the same set up.
