Day 26 - 2/04/2004

Home

Lots of snow, ice and cold. Winter really sucks. But it did give me time to sort out all my wiring diagrams, research parts, and take a needed rest. I also had to do some upgrades to the MR2 message board and answer a couple of billion e-mails. This next weekend will not be much better. We are supposed to get snow, rains, ice, sleet and probably more cold.

I have also started setting up the Strong Stock Road Rally '04 that will take place on September 25-26, 2004. It will be two days of driving through Virginia and West Virginia. The event is open to all Toyota MR2 and Celica All-Trac owners. Cost for the event is free excluding the hotel fee which runs a bit over $100.

These are the two toe control adaptors I purchased. The toe control link will attach the this. This will bring the toe rod in-line with the lower control arm. Hopefully I can keep bump steer to a minimum.

2

2

This will also fit a MR2, even though it is designed for a GM.

3

Mr. Gasket supplied some Accel 8mm wires and some cool Accel U-Groove sparking plugs.

4

4

Here is the used AutoPower roll cage. Thanks to Norm Floyd of Tree Frog Racing donated his old ITA race cage. It is a bolt in cage. So it will be an easy install. I'll modify it a little, like remove the Petty Bar as I need to have room for my wife as a passenger. She would be pretty pissed if she had to straddle that Petty bar... now if it was a Michael Waltrip bar, then she would be all smiles.

5

Another view. I'll use the petty bar to make a passenger side harness bar. I'll clean up the cage and give it a good coat Rustoleum Red paint. Black roll cages are boring. Red cages are faster. I am also keeping the door bars. I live in the middle of the forest. Trees are everywhere. Door bars are good.

6

6

Here is the metal for the engine cover / firewall frame, and the sub-frame mounts.

7

7

Troy sent out the other coils. Now I am ready to start wiring the starting circuit and the engine will be done.

8

Another large spool of wire for the MIG welder. This is for the argon mix welder that my father inlaw gave me.

9

Jarco Inc. supplied the J-Spec late model steering wheel. This has no airbag. Very cool. Leather wrapped. Large enough where we can still see all the gauges.

1

10

I need to take it to a leather restorer shop. It just needs recolored.

The person wore the color off in a few spots

12

The Dynomax muffler

4

13

I think I showed these before. But these are the lower control arms from a MK2 MR2. They are slightly longer and more stout than the MK1 lower control arms. These hold up well in the MK2 at 175+ MPH.

14

Here is the red paint that will be used on the cage

2

15

This will be cut off.

12

So will this
