It was very warm today. Somewhere in the mid-20sF. I decided to go do some junk yard hunding for rear disk brakes. I went armed with a set of cars that use basically the same bolt pattern. Most were General Motors cars. I ended up getting the front calipers and removing one rear system from the Cadillac that used to be in my driveway. Figured I could at least use parts and pieces, maybe reverse engineer things. |
1 This was yesterday. |
2 My garage roof is sagging a bit, but it is keeping the snow off the car! |
3 The snow started melting today. I was thinking of taking my Purple Two out, but I don't want to wrap it around a tree, so I took the truck to the junk yard. |
4 So this is what I found. This is the Cadillac rear system and the front calipers. One disk from the fron and one from the rear. I'll get new disks once I get everything built up. I'll be getting these Performance Friction rears |
5 The rear fits perfectly on the front hub |

7 Here they are stacked up. Swept area is much larger on the caddy version |
8 Here is an 87 rear caliper installed. I'll need to make an adaptor plate |
9 Another view. With this setup I'll be able to use the AW11 emergency brake setup. |

11 and another from the bottom. |
12 Here is the caliper adaptor installed. |
13 The stock AW11 rear pad should work perfect. I may have to do a bit of filling to get it all lined up. |
14 Perfect alignment |
15 And another.and the AW11 pad fits fine on the disk. |
12 I was afraid the center hole would be different. But it fits perfect. |
