Not much work today. It is 10 degrees F outside with some wind. So what I am doing is getting some parts lists completed and doing research on what the heck I am going to use for rear brakes. My wife has a party to go to today. So I have to watch the kiddies. Besides she needs a break away from me. I am becoming obsessed with this car, and am becoming a bit testy with her. So I'll continue working tonight. I'll build some toe control arm brackets. |
Here is a 1987 MR2 rear disk installed on the Caddy hub. It does not fit. But I knew this. I just wanted to see how bad it was. Sometimes you can get lucky and only require a bit of grinding or drilling to adapt some stuff. This requires and new larger hat and disk. |
The center of the hub is 70mm across. Much larger than the MR2. |
Just another image for reference. |
In order to use the MR2 rear caliper I will need to make a steel adaptor. This will allow me to retain the stock emergency brake setup. |
I will need to find a disk that fits before I install the calipers. There are a few ways I can make an adaptor. |
The stock Toe Control Arm from the 1987 rear suspension fits perfect in the steering arm on the Caddy hub. |
I will need to drill out this bent up lower ball joint and replace it with one from www.rockauto.com . here is an image of what you get in the kit - Lower Ball Joint |
This is a tab that a sensor mounted to. This told the computer what angle the suspension was at so that the suspension could be adjusted. The car had active suspension. I'll cut this off also. |
I need to find some urethane bushings. I don't want deflection induced under of over steer to occure. So deflection will be kept to a minimum... I hope. |
