Day 13 - 1/3/2004

Home

Awesome weather today! It was close to 70F! That tells me that we will have 10 feet of snow next weekend.

1

1

I installed the master cylinder and hooked it all up.

2

2

Installed the front strut brace. This car did not have a standard strut brace when sold new. There were no marks on the strut tower tops. Cool.

3

I love the Chassis Number

4

4

I found a can of black paint. Time to cover some primer.

5

5

Installed the water tank for the windscreen washers.

6

6

Installed the fans on the radiator.

7

7

Jody. I just found a new part you can get. The air bleed O-Rings on the radiator. I need tons of these.

8

Here is the A/C system.

9

I got tired of crawling around in the mud. So I got the carpet from the living room, my wife is at her parents now, I'll just vacuum it later.

10

All done up front!

11

I removed the passenger triangle side spoiler. Look at that mud.

12

Ouch. This is the first bit of corrosion I have found.

13

It was just surface rust. I cleaned it up with a wire brush and gave it a coat of black paint. It will be really cleaned up before we give it a proper paint job.

14

This was in the drivers side triangle.

1

15

But no rust.

2

16

Painted up all the primered parts with some satin black.

17

Installed the side scoop.

4

18

I mocked up the cooling pipes using some cut up MR2 cooling pipes. I'll have to have a custom water pump inlet / thermostat housing made. It will have a 1.25" inlet instead of the 1.50".

5

19

Again, this is just a "proof of theory" mock up. I will actually have two RSe oil coolers down there, one for the transaxle, and one for the engine oil.

20

Just another detail image

2

21

Like I said, I'll have a custom hosing made that will be 2.25" inlet so it matches the rest of the MR2 system.

22

Alternator fits. I'll make a bottom bracket that will also double as a belt tensioner.

24

Bottom of motor mount

1

25

The exhaust ports are oval shaped

2

26

I am going to cut this section out and box it in. There is room, but not much. It will look cleaner that way.

27

Cut a hole in the firewall and ran the ECU cables to the ECU. Just have to mount it.

4

28

This is the main engine harness.I will clean all that up after I get the engine started

5

29

It is pretty tight down there. The EGR tubes come mighty close to the wiring. I dont like that. Gotta sort that out.

1

30

I am still debating putting the coolant pressure tank in this area instead of the trunk. There is a lot of room there.

2

31

The thermostat.

32

It fits right in there

4

33

You can see the air bleed. That should be the highest point of the cooling system

5

34

Better view

1

35

Gotta sort out the oil dip stick. I need to move it around so I can easily check the oil.

2

36

Did I say that I found some black spray paint?
