Day 116- 12/03/2006

Cold weekend. Got a lot of welding done. Almost done with the engine mounts.

1

1

Drivers side mount.

2

2

Looking down on the passenger side of the SW20 sub-frame.You can see my patches.

1

3

Rear engine mount fitted. I need to find all the bolts, plus buy some new heavy duty bolts that will go through the sub-frame.

2

4

Passengers side frame.

1

5

Passenger side engine mount using the stock AW11 chassis mount. All of the mounts are solid to the engine. No rubber, no urethane.

2

6

Looks funky, but it works and does not weigh 30 pounds.

The side mounts support the weight of the engine. That is all they do. The fore and aft mounts handle the torque of the engine. I will also have two torque mounts up high to keep the engine from twisting.

1

7

Three mounts almost completed.

1

8

That big lug on the transaxle with that huge bolt going through it will be where one torque rod will connect. The other will be on the head.

2

9

Strong Outboard Service is going to supply me with the cables to operate the shifter.

1

10

Lots more room.

2

11

Those are not holes in my welds. Just shadows.

12

Bottom of drivers side mount.

2

13

looking up at the passenger side mount from the bottom.

1

14

That mount is the front. Gotta sort that one out next weekend.

2

15

Another look at the mount from up top. I still have to prime and paint the mounts.

1

16

Looking down at the tranny mount. I need long bolts and nuts, plus need to reinforce this side of the frame rail for the mount.

2

17

Another look.

1

18

Not much room, but there is enough to keep from hitting.

2

19

I need to cut that out. When I pulled the sub-frame out last time my frame rails spread apart a bit. So by cutting this out I can get all the holes lined up and then weld in the roll bar/frame ties. That should hold everything in place.
