William D. Cooper Jr.

William Doran Cooper Jr., 67, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at his home in Arrington.

Born in North Dakota, Feb. 6, 1937, he was a son of the late William D. Cooper and Olga Simmons Cooper. He was a retired equipment supervisor for S.L. Williamson Company, an U.S. Air Force veteran, and was a member of Jonesboro Baptist Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Peggy Carter Cooper; mother-in-law, Jessie T. Carter of Roseland; three sons, Marvin Cooper and his wife, Jody, of California, Mark Cooper and his wife, Helen, of Woodbridge, and William D. Cooper III and his wife, Laura, of Roseland; one daughter, Aimee Strong and her husband, Bill, of Scottsville; one brother, Rod Cooper of Arizona; a sister, Carolyn Rose Boyd of Walnut Creek, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Philip Hoeffer of Charlottesville; and 14 grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2004, in Jonesboro Cemetery, by the Rev. David Blevins. The family is receiving friends at his home.
